Colorado Effort

Chinese Earthquake Fund

Progress Report:

08-12-2008

Project C.U.R.E. completed a one-week Need Assessment trip to Sichuan, China at the end of July, facilitated by Chinese Earthquake Fund and West China Hospital. The three parties Project C.U.R.E., Chinese Earthquake Fund and West China Hospital) have signed an agreement for this mission. Dr. Tang visited Du Jiang Yan (earthquake area). Due to more strict regulations on the imported medical equipment for earthquake relief, we continue to work with Project C.U.R.E. and West China Hospital allocating the medical items that will meet all requirements and prepare for the documentation for approval. We need more donation funds to cover the cost of transportation since free shipment services may not be available at this time.

After the Earthquake Relief Concert on June 14th, we have received enough donation funds to cover the expenses of a field trip to China for onsite assessment which was required by Project C.U.R.E and the down payment for shipping another full-container medical supply.

China Earthquake Relief: A Million-Dollar Colorado Initiative

On behalf of the Chinese Earthquake Fund, we are inviting you to join a humanitarian effort to help save hundreds of thousands of the victims from a massive earthquake in Sichuan , China on May 12th. This 8.0 magnitude earthquake has caused more than 80,000 deaths including many school-aged children, a half million injures and impacted more than ten million people.

Under the initiative of Dr. Shou-Ching Tang, Director of Hematology/Oncology from the University of Colorado Denver Health Medical Center and Dr. Yong Zhou from American Citi-Media Inc. a relief project in support of the earthquake victims is underway. In collaboration with the ProjectC.U.R.E, a special project was launched to collect relief funds and medical supplies to the disaster area. Project C.U.R.E has committed medical supplies worth of 1.2 Million USD to be sent to the area.

After immediate waves of rescuing, the medical system in Sichuan is facing unbearable stress in taking care of various acute and chronic trauma patients. Dr. Tang contacted West China Hospital in Chengdu , Sichuan where many seriously injured victims are treated. They desperately need medical teams and rehabilitation specialists, as well as various medical supplies and rehabilitation equipment. West China Hospital is the major tertiary hospital in Sichuan and serves as the triage center for the earthquake victims.

A special non-profit Chinese Earth Quake Fund has been set up to accept donations and to issue receipts for tax purposes. The funds collected will be used entirely and exclusively to deliver the urgently needed medical supplies to the trauma center in West China Hospital . We invite you to join us in this effort to help save thousands of lives who are in need of your generous help. Each dollar collected will contribute toward the successful completion of this million-dollar project.
